Short Term Car Leasing UK

Short term car leasing usually means an agreement of a couple of years rather than four or five. Here is what that means in business contract hire, and an honest word on what we do and don't offer.

What short term means in contract hire

Contract hire is a fixed-term agreement, and the shortest standard term is 24 months. That is the shortest we offer, alongside 36 months. We do not offer rolling monthly agreements or terms of one to three months.

If you need a car for a few weeks or a few months, you want short-term rental, which is a different product that we do not provide.

Why 24 months suits many businesses

A 24-month lease keeps your commitment shorter than a three or four-year agreement. You can move to a newer car sooner, review your needs when the term ends, and plan around a fixed monthly rental in the meantime. Monthly rentals can differ between 24 and 36 months, so compare both on the deal page.

You also get a new car under the manufacturer's warranty for most of the term, so there are fewer repair surprises, and the fixed rental makes budgeting simple. Choose your annual mileage carefully, because every mile over your limit is charged when the car goes back.

For example, our lowest-priced car, the Ibiza Hatchback, is £191 a month ex VAT on a 24-month agreement, 5,000 miles a year and 9 initial rentals.

What happens at the end

You return the car, which is checked against fair wear and tear standards and your agreed mileage. Excess mileage and damage beyond fair wear and tear can be charged. You can then lease another car or walk away, with no selling or part-exchange to arrange and no risk of what the car is worth, because you never owned it.

Frequently asked questions

+What is the shortest car lease term available?

Our shortest term is 24 months. We also offer 36 months. We do not offer rolling monthly leases or terms of one to three months.

+Is a 24-month lease considered short term?

In contract hire, 24 months is at the short end of the range, because agreements commonly run for two to four years. It is still a fixed commitment for two years, which is much longer than a short-term rental.

+Can I end a car lease early?

A contract hire agreement is for a fixed term, so ending it early normally means paying an early termination charge, which can be a large part of the remaining rentals. The terms are set out in your agreement, so read them before you sign.

+What happens at the end of a short term car lease?

You return the car and it is inspected against fair wear and tear standards. You pay for any excess mileage or damage beyond fair wear and tear, and then you can lease another car or walk away.
