No Deposit Van Leasing Deals

Need a van but want to keep your cash in the business? Van contract hire doesn't use a deposit in the way a purchase does, but you can keep the payment at the start as low as possible. Here is how it works, and what to watch for.

What does no deposit mean for a van lease?

A van lease starts with an initial rental rather than a deposit. It is paid at the start and is expressed as a number of monthly payments. No deposit van leasing usually means the lowest possible payment up front.

On our deals, the lowest option is 1 initial rental, which means one monthly payment up front. We do not offer a van lease with nothing at all to pay at the start, and we would rather say so plainly.

The trade-off

A smaller initial rental usually means a higher monthly rental. For example, our lowest-priced van, the Caddy Cargo Maxi, is £225 a month ex VAT with 9 initial rentals, which is the setting our prices start on. With 1 initial rental, the lowest-priced van is the Caddy Cargo Maxi at £307 a month ex VAT. Compare the total cost across the whole agreement, not only the monthly figure.

Who it suits

A low initial rental suits sole traders and small businesses that need a van for work but would rather keep cash for tools, stock and wages. On each deal page you can choose the term, annual mileage and number of initial rentals and see the monthly rental update.

A VAT-registered business can usually reclaim the VAT on van rentals, including the initial rental, where the van is used for business only. Private use changes this, so check with your accountant. All agreements are subject to status and credit approval.

Van leasing deals, cheapest first

Prices are monthly rentals ex VAT for a 24-month agreement, 5,000 miles a year and 9 initial rentals. Pick a deal and choose 1 initial rental to see the lowest payment at the start, which gives a higher monthly rental.

Frequently asked questions

+What does no deposit van leasing mean?

In contract hire there is no deposit as such. Instead you pay an initial rental at the start, which is a set number of monthly payments. No deposit van leasing usually means keeping that initial payment as low as possible, and on our deals the lowest is 1 initial rental.

+Can I lease a van with no deposit as a sole trader?

Sole traders can apply for business van contract hire with 1 initial rental. Approval depends on status and a credit check, which may include your personal credit file, and we cannot guarantee it.

+Can I reclaim VAT on a no deposit van lease?

A VAT-registered business can usually reclaim the VAT on the monthly rentals, and on the initial rental, where the van is used for business only. If there is private use, the amount you can reclaim may be lower. Check with your accountant.

+What mileage limits apply?

You choose an annual mileage on the deal page, and the deals here are priced at 5,000 miles a year. Going over your agreed mileage means an excess mileage charge for each extra mile, so choose a realistic figure.
