Short Term Van Leasing UK

Short term van leasing usually means an agreement of a couple of years rather than four or five. Here is what that means in business contract hire, and an honest word on what we do and don't offer.

What short term means for a van lease

Van contract hire is a fixed-term agreement, and 24 months is the shortest standard term. That is the shortest we offer, alongside 36 months where a van has one. We do not offer rolling monthly agreements or terms of one to three months.

If you need a van for a few weeks or months, you want short-term van rental, which is a different product that we do not provide.

Why 24 months suits small businesses

Sole traders and small firms often don't want to be tied in for four or five years. A 24-month lease keeps the commitment shorter, gives you a fixed monthly rental to budget around, and lets you reassess your van when the term ends, whether your work has grown or changed.

You also get a new van under the manufacturer's warranty for most of the term, which means fewer repair surprises and less time off the road. Choose your annual mileage carefully, because every mile over your limit is charged when the van goes back.

For example, our lowest-priced van, the Caddy Cargo Maxi, is £225 a month ex VAT on a 24-month agreement, 5,000 miles a year and 9 initial rentals.

Flexibility at the end of the term

At the end of the lease you return the van, which is checked against fair wear and tear standards and your agreed mileage. You can then lease a different van, a bigger or smaller one, or stop leasing. You never owned the van, so there is no depreciation risk and no selling to arrange.

Van leasing deals, cheapest first

Prices are monthly rentals ex VAT for a 24-month agreement, 5,000 miles a year and 9 initial rentals. Pick a deal to see whether it also has a 36-month price.

Frequently asked questions

+What is the shortest van lease term?

Our shortest term is 24 months. Some vans also have a 36-month term. We do not offer rolling monthly leases or terms of one to three months.

+Can I lease a van for 1 year?

No. Our shortest van lease is 24 months, so we cannot offer a 12-month agreement. If you only need a van for a short period, short-term van rental is the right product, and we do not provide it.

+Is a 24-month van lease flexible?

It is more flexible than a longer term, because you commit for two years and can change vans at the end. It is still a fixed-term agreement, and ending it early normally means an early termination charge set out in your agreement.

+What happens when a short term van lease ends?

You return the van and it is inspected against fair wear and tear standards. You pay for any excess mileage or damage beyond fair wear and tear, and then you can lease another van or walk away.
